Family Coaching

Are you a student who feels frustrated, bored, lost, confused or even just plain ‘ole annoyed with your family dynamics?

OR

Are you a parent who is starting to pull out your hair because of the challenges at home?

In any grade, students can find themselves spinning their wheels and then running full speed against a deadline leading them to fall apart in tears or worse dive into self-doubt and shame. Does this sound familiar to you?

Parents can feel overwhelmed, “There is NO book for this! The books I have read aren’t fitting our family picture! Help!” Remember: it takes a village!

My name is Misha. I am trilingual;French, Spanish and English and a trained Academic Life Coach. I would like to be a member of your village and bring light and ease into your family’s life!

I also have 30+ years of teaching experience (middle school, high school, and community college educator) classroom, 1:1 and other group settings. References available upon request!

It would be my pleasure to help you, your student(s) and/or your whole family to discover the art of experiencing a Stress-Less School Year and happier family dynamics!

Academic Life Coaching

As a retired teacher of 30+ years, (still young, playful, and openly queer) I loved being in the classroom with all the different personalities and backgrounds! Even with upwards of 37 students per period, they were truly the best part of my day. Now that I work with students one-to-one, I find even more delight as I am better able to witness their individual progression and transformations.

I work with students who struggle with ADHD, low self-worth, depression, and/or anxiety, as well as procrastination (due to lack of motivation and/or perfectionism), time management, self-regulation, and social interactions. Because I cultivate a safe and trusting space, students tend to open up enough for us to be able to pinpoint their areas to work on. I whole-heartedly believe that my clients are the best experts of themselves but just need the space to start believing this. It is not always about the grades and...as they are more able to focus on their well-being the grades often improve.

I support students to set goals, practice positive habits including mindfulness, and to improve their executive function skills such as time management, organization, note taking, self-advocacy and strategic studying. I also specialize in supporting parents and their kids to become the family they want to be, enjoying each other more often while also celebrating their autonomy.

As a member of the queer community, I definitely have a better understanding of the journey some of today's LGBTQIA+ youth are going through and believe this to be part of my special sauce. If you are looking for a holistic approach uniquely co-created with you and your student, you can schedule a complimentary consultation so we can identify next steps together. I look forward to supporting you and your student(s).
